The New South Wales Government says this week will see a number of pubs and clubs across the state face new restrictions on the service of alcohol.

New laws aimed at reducing violence and anti-social behaviour are set to come into affect from tomorrow.

The State Gaming and Racing Minister Kevin Greene says these measures are a serious response to a serious issue.

"These new regulations will apply to 48 venues across the state, and these'll see lockouts from 2:00am," he said.

"Also the use of only plastic or polycarbonated containers, as well as a ban on shots.
"There's a number of important changes that will impact on these venues."
