A Fulton man was drunk when he tried to bail out another Fulton man who had been arrested on a charge of drunk driving, police said.
Richard A. Miller, 26, of Honey Hill Road, had been a passenger in Dustin R. Amos’s car when Amos, 24, of Rowlee Road, was charged by Fulton police with driving while intoxicated around 4 a.m. Sunday.
About an hour later Miller came to the Fulton Police Department to post bail for Amos. He showed up intoxicated, police said.
“After Miller was turned away by police, officers followed Miller as he walked to his vehicle and attempted to drive away,” police said.
Miller was stopped after a short distance, at which point he failed a field sobriety test.
Miller was arrested, charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and operation of a motor vehicle in violation of restriction.
Amos was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, unsafe lane change and unlicensed operation.
“Both Amos and Miller were released on cash bail to responsible, sober parties,” police said.
